Operators helping operators.
Why the firm exists
As the lead partner on large-firm engagements, I heard a version of the same thing near the end of most of them: "I really didn't need the full team. I wish I could just have you, and one or two other experts."
They were usually right.
Large firms staff large teams because the model requires it, not because the work does. The partner sells and oversees with a small percentage of time allocated, the associates deliver, the experts plug in and out briefly, and the leverage structure is what makes the economics work. It's a coherent model and it produces genuinely good outcomes at genuinely large scale. It just isn't the only way to do the work, and for customer-facing go-to-market problems, it often isn't the best way.
Growth & Co is built the other way. Small, senior, and accountable. The people you meet are the people doing the work — through the framing, the build, and the adoption.
Institutional rigor without institutional overhead.
Background
Growth & Co was founded by Jason Heller, formerly a partner at McKinsey & Company and co-lead of the firm's global digital growth practice.
Before McKinsey and since, the work has been operating rather than advising: two companies built and exited, and seats as CEO, President, and Chief Growth Officer. The pattern across both halves is the same — large-scale commercial and digital transformation at enterprises where the constraint is rarely the idea and almost always the organization's ability to absorb it.
The firm has grown around that. The partners are operators first, drawn from commercial leadership, technology, and life sciences, with investing experience alongside. Everyone has run something. Nobody arrived here from a consulting career alone.
Jason and team have created over $100B in enterprise value, helping senior change agents deliver transformation that actually sticks.
How the firm is structured
No leverage model. There is no junior bench learning on your engagement, and no deck factory producing material nobody reads. The senior people who frame the problem are in the room shoulder to shoulder while you execute, and we hold ourselves as accountable for the impact you signed up to deliver as you are. That isn't a service promise. It's how the firm is built.
A small number of clients at a time. The model only works if the people who committed to the work are the ones doing it, which keeps a high bar on the team and a hard ceiling on how many engagements run at once. We'd rather decline work than staff it with the wrong people. Our reputation for delivering is the most valuable thing we have.
The team is assembled for the problem. Partners are permanent; the shape of an engagement is not. A commercial operating model rebuild draws on different people than an agentic build inside a regulated environment, or a data science engagement building reinforcement learning models. Engagements draw on a wider group of senior operators, engineers, and specialists — everyone on your engagement is senior, whether or not they're a partner. You meet the people who will do your work, not a standing team looking for somewhere to be deployed.
We build our own systems. The agentic delivery method we bring to client work is the method we use internally. The governance wrapper that clears your compliance review was built because it had to clear someone else's first.
